The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) is a not-for-profit technology, information and education consortium providing value-added products and services that enable collaboration and learning among manufacturers. NCMS was organized under the National Cooperative Research Act of 1984; formed in 1986 and is the largest cross-industry collaborative R&D consortium in North America. NCMS is the only consortial effort in the U.S. devoted exclusively to manufacturing technologies, process, and practices and has more than 20 years of experience in the formation and management of complex multi-partner collaborative R&D programs.
